John’s been here 6 years and I’ve been here over 2, and we only just discovered the awesomeness that is Tamura’s Fine Wine and Liquors. Family-owned and in business since the 1920′s, Tamura’s has 3 locations (Waialae, Aikahi and Aiea) and carries an amazing collection of wines, from inexpensive bargains to super high-end splurges, as well as just about every liquor you can think of. Even better, they stock hard-to-find gourmet food items and some pretty famous poke. Read more

The Saturday farmers’ market at Kapiolani Community College is an almost-overwhelming collection of veggies, fruits, meat, fish, baked goods, honey, flowers, snacks…you name it. We went for the first time recently and didn’t even know where to start. Soon enough we came to our senses and headed straight for what we came for: Kahuku sweet corn. Read more

I love going to Whole Foods. And not just because of the delicious foods and ingredients contained therein. I love going because located in the same shopping center (Kahala Mall) is a home accessories store that I’m absolutely in love with. Every time John mentions a trip to Whole Foods for (expensive) meat or pizza dough or amazing cheese, I know it’s an opportunity for me to duck out and head to SoHa Living for some beachy home decor goodness.
